Food myths have been around since the existence of food and they are aplenty! But, don’t you worry because we are about to bust some of them for you.

1) Myth – “Don’t eat after 6 P.M.
Truth – Eat 3 hours before your bedtime. This is a huge myth surrounding the right time for dinner. People almost starve themselves to sleep, due to this myth. You should eat three hours before going to bed to give time to your body to digest food.

2) Myth – “Carbohydrates make you fat.”
Truth – The Good Carbs are your friends! Foods such as nuts, lentils, beans, and fruits are good for your health. Not only do carbs provide energy they also contain vital nutrients and the right amount of fibre that your body requires.

3) Myth – “Calories eaten at night are more fattening”
Truth – When taking in calories, it is not the time that matters, it is the amount. This is another popular myth which states that calorie intake at night is worse than any other time of the day. The time does not affect how calories affect your body but the amount of calories that you consume in a day.

4)  Myth – “Salads are the healthiest option on the menu.”
Truth – Salads are healthy until you add any form of fat, like Mayonnaise, which increases the fat content and the salad loses its true essence. We’ve all grown to believe that any type of salad is a healthy meal option but, not when sauces are added to it.

5) Myth – “Egg Yolk Is Bad For Health.”
Truth –  Egg is high in cholesterol but, low in fat. Even though egg yolks are high in cholesterol, they are low in fat and that makes the whole egg the perfect source of protein for the day.

We hope you won’t starve yourself to sleep; nor would you miss eating that scrumptious egg curry that your mom made! Have any other myths you want to know about? Let us know in the comments below.
